Effective October 17, 2007 - Applicants who sat for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) shall provide evidence of passing Steps 1, 2, and 3 within a 10-year period. Applicants who took longer than 10 years to pass Steps 1, 2, and 3 shall also provide evidence of board certification in a specialty approved by the American Board of Medicine Specialties or the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists of the American Osteopathic Association.

Effective July 1, 2007, a licensed physician assistant has the authority to prescribe controlled substances and devices for Schedules II. Physician assistants who wish to add Schedules II to their existing protocol must submit a written request to the Board office to include their name, license number, and signature of their primary supervising physician, or complete the prescriptive authority request form.
