Effective October 17, 2007 - Applicants who sat for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) shall provide evidence of passing Steps 1, 2, and 3 within a 10-year period. Applicants who took longer than 10 years to pass Steps 1, 2, and 3 shall also provide evidence of board certification in a specialty approved by the American Board of Medicine Specialties or the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists of the American Osteopathic Association.

Effective July 1, 2007, a licensed physician assistant has the authority to prescribe controlled substances and devices for Schedules II. Physician assistants who wish to add Schedules II to their existing protocol must submit a written request to the Board office to include their name, license number, and signature of their primary supervising physician, or complete the prescriptive authority request form. This online training course has been developed for, and with the assistance of, mandated reporters and APS professionals to assist mandated reporters in understanding adult abuse and their responsibilities as mandated reporters.
