Subscription Services

Download License Lists

To obtain mailing information of licensed health professionals in the Commonwealth, businesses may now purchase that information by going to Virginia.gov. If you have questions about this service call Virginia.gov customer service at 804-786-4718 or 1-877-482-3468.

Subscription and lookup data serve as primary source verification of the credential issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Virginia Department of Health Professions (DHP) web site linked to https://www.virginiainteractive.org/dhp/cgi-bin/search_publicdb.cgi is the official web site of the agency for providing license lookup and license verification information.  The web site http://www.virginia.gov receives and hosts the DHP information directly from the DHP database in an electronic manner protected from alteration by unauthorized individuals.

Consistent with JCAHO, NCQA, and other standards for primary source verification, the site is considered a primary source for DHP data – it is the same information the agency provides through other means, such as its IVR system 804 270-6836, fax, or mail and is true and complete to the best of our knowledge.  The information is updated each business day and the date of the most recent update is provided on the search page.

Recently this information was found on the web site in a format that needed to be worked with before it could be used. Virginia.gov has now created a service that allows you to obtain this information two different ways 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

One option is to become a Virginia.gov Premium Service Subscriber. Subscribers are given access to the informational database that will allow you to download information sorting by board, occupation, name, and location. This information can be put into an office database, mail merge file, and labels and letters can then be easily created.

The second option is for entities that do not wish to become subscribers. They may access the information by entering a secure site, entering a credit card number, and selecting the information they would like to receive in an electronic file.

To review each service, simply go to Virginia.gov Premium Services

For individual searches the License Lookup is available. You can search by Name, License Number and more at no cost. Citizens and potential employers can search to find pertinent information on licensed professionals in Virginia.

License and Case Decision Notification Service

Subscribe to the notification service.

Virginia.gov is now offering a subscription licensure and disciplinary notification service to employers, insurance companies, and others associated with Virginia's 350,000 licensed, certified, and registered health care professionals.

Subscription and lookup data serve as primary source verification of the credential issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Users can create a profile of the licenses and the information they wish to track, such as license expiration and renewal, notice of proceeding and/or board action. The notification will be sent to whatever e-mail address the user wishes via any apparatus that receives email: PC, pager, cell phone, or PDA. Multiple licenses can be tracked at the same time.

The profile is compared daily, Sunday through Friday, to the Department of Health Professions’ (DHP) public information database. Any change in the status of the licenses generates an alert that is sent to the appropriate email address(s).

The new subscription service does not replace or affect any of the agency’s existing free online services. The public may continue to conduct individual searches of licensees through License Lookup at no charge. The public also continues to have free access to the Physician Profile and the Recent Case Decisions databases. The Physician Profile database provides important practice and other information about doctors of medicine, osteopathy, and podiatry. The Recent Case Decision database reflects all disciplinary actions taken by health regulatory boards. Access to these free services is provided through the homepage of the Department of Health Professions located at www.dhp.virginia.gov.
