Announcement For Licensed Professional Counselor Applicants
As of May 2008 the National Clinical Mental Health Counselors Examination (NCMHCE) is computer based and given on a monthly basis, either the first or second full week of each month as determined by NBCC. The exam fee will be $185 payable to the exam service.
The 2010 dates are as follows: Dec. 7-12, 2009, Jan. 4-9, 2010, Feb. 8-13, 2010, Mar. 1-6, 2010, Apr. 5-10, 2010, May 3-8, 2010, June 7-12, 2010, July 5-10, 2010, Aug. 2-7, 2010, Sept. 13-18, 2010, Oct. 4-9, 2010, Nov. 1-6, 2010, Dec. 6-11, 2010.
You must receive approval from the Virginia Board of Counseling prior to registering for the exam. Computer based testing is available only for the NCMHCE
Please note that Virginia Law on confidentiality of records of licensed mental health providers in custody and visitation cases (Section 20-124.3:1) was repealed by the 2008 General Assembly.
